After many months of legal wrangling Myriad Technologies is very happy to announce that MVP-Press have chosen to settle out of court for an undisclosed sum.
The statement of claim outlined a number of issues with the publication of the courseware. Legal issues with MVP-Press began over a year ago, when MVP-Press failed to publish 4 SharePoint courses that were created by Myriad Technologies. These courses already existed and were used by a number of training centres and existing clients as part of their SharePoint training strategies. The publishing agreement would have seen these existing customers cut over to the MVP-Press manuals were released. The Publishing Agreement with MVP-Press was signed to enable MVP-Press to incorporate Myriad Technologies intellectual property into future MVP-Press titles. Unfortunately, the MVP-Press manuals were never released.

The publishing arrangement broke down after 3 release dates were missed. MVP-Press announced a release date of the 2nd of February 2011. When MVP-Press failed to publish the courseware as agreed, Myriad Technologies continued to supply existing customers and partners with their courseware. At this point MVP-Press mistaken believed they had a claim over the Myriad Technologies Intellectual Property and MVP-Press attempted unsuccessfully to claim royalties from the Myriad Technologies courseware.

With the out of court settlement we see MVP-Press reliqushing of any distribution rights over the Myriad Technologies intellectual property. This also includes any misconceived claims to the Myriad Technologies courseware.

I have started to release our courseware under the MVP-Press banner. It's great to be working with Rolly and his team to help make the courseware available. As anyone who has written anything substantial you know how much time and effort goes into writing. The publishing team at MVP-Press have helped put the professional finish on the courseware. The new courses are

Building an Online Catalogue with SharePoint 2013

Body:

Over last few months I have been really getting into SharePoint Catalogs. I see these as a real game changer when it comes to WCM and publishing content for your WWW site. These aren't just for product catalogs because but they can be a new way of looking at "Master Lists" in SharePoint. When you Publish a list as a Catalog the columns are automatically promoted as Managed Properties. This alone will save you a ton of time!

Overview

SharePoint 2013 provides a number of enhancements in the areas of content management and keywords and taxonomies. In this session, we will explore how we can create an online catalogue and use term sets to guide your navigation through your content. This technique will allow you to create catalogues or knowledge base within a single site.
