Problem

From time to time a common issue that arises is users are unable to open the explorer view or map a network drive to a SharePoint Library.

Cause

If this issue arises and you have checked most of the usual suspects, like IE Zone Settings, etc. You may want to check if your IIS Server has the WebDav Publishing Role enabled

Resolution

Remove the "WebDAV Publishing" Role from your IIS Server.
